We are thrilled to announce our Youth Scholarship Award winners for the Class of 2028. This scholarship is a testament to these students' commitment to excellence and their potential to make a significant impact in your chosen field. We believe in their ability to achieve great things and are excited to see all that they will accomplish in the future.
We would like to introduce our scholarship winners:
Thijs Simonian:
Thijs will be attending Stanford University studying computer science in the College of Engineering Class of 2028. As just a high schooler, Thijs was accepted into a college-level internship at Discord Inc., developing their mobile app, improving communication between users, and collaborating with mobile redesign team. In addition to this internship, Thijs participated in many scholastic events such as Hyphen-Hacks Hackathon and aspires to create better technology systems that benefit the public as a whole.
Jordan Hawkins-Collins:
Jordan will be attending Howard University in Washington D.C., studying criminology in the College of Arts and Sciences. Throughout her high school career, Jordan has participated in mock trial and has been awarded All-Star. Jordan has obtained an internship at California Academy of Science as a part of the Leadership Council facilitating intern trainings and hiring processes. After college, Jordan plans to attend law school and becoming a prosecuting attorney pursuing her interest in racial discrimination affairs.
Alyssa Bongato:
Alyssa will be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in structural engineering at the Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California San Diego. Participating in her school’s robotics club, she earned titles Vice President and Secretary, while simultaneously pursing her creative side. Alyssa Marie has a passion for calligraphy, animation, art, and pottery painting. She wants to become a structural and design engineer improving efficiency and accessibility of frequently used infrastructure.
Weiwen Zheng:
Weiwen will be attending Dartmouth College studying history. Passionate for her community Weiwen has volunteered at San Francisco Public Library and the Community Youth Center providing opportunities for children in the SF area. Weiwen has also worked at Agape Community Center as a Teacher’s Assistant and San Francisco Unified School District and a student intern developing the English as Second Language (ESL) curriculum for SF public schools. After college, Weiwen plans to pursue a master’s degree in library science to become an academic librarian in universities. She aims to collect and curate records of Chinese immigration since the 1900s.
Antonio Fiorentini:
Antonio is a rising 9th grader, planning to attend Archbishop Riordan High School. He is passionate in the arts, specifically about music, being in his school band for percussion, as well as acting and singing. He aspires to become a pediatric doctor and is aiming for acceptance at University of California San Francisco or Stanford University.
